I recently did a logo for my friend Kirsten Laulainen and her new business Inner Circle Animal Communication. You can find out more info about her and the business at the Inner Circle website! I am posting first the final logo we selected as well as a few of the other variations I worked up in the process. I kind of love taking my rough sketches and turning them into super crisp vectors!

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of attending the first Dr. Sketchy’s session of 2011! I had been a bit rusty lately so it was great to draw a live model, and one that was so poised and lovely! By the time we got to the 20-minute poses, I was warmed up and I think those last two came out alright! I was especially trying to capture to face/expression of the model with her amazing hair in the last one.

I do have to make mention of the fact that even though Dr. Sketchy’s is more of a fun, drink&draw, all-skill-levels type of environment – it is really not OK to hoot and holler, or make overtly flirtatious comments to the model. I am sure some models may not take offense, but it is still a place where models should feel safe and respected – it is a special privilege to draw new and exciting models, and I don’t want them to be deterred from coming back…

So I never made a post about this on the previous blog, but thought I’d update now about the Blizzard Holiday Card Contest. I normally do not submit to too many contests, but over Christmas thought there needed to be more Diablo III Christmas cards in the world! I put quite a bit of thought into it, but was pressed to execute it well in the time I had. For next time – the rules were not clear to me about whether I needed to submit my entry on the Blizzard card template (not sure if the winners did that themselves or if the Blizzard folks set that up). So all in all, I got my entry in, JUST in time – and whether you win or lose these things (I didn’t win), it’s positive to participate especially when it’s a topic you can get excited about and have some fun with.

To give you all something a little more recent, I am sharing a banner I made for my WoW guild, Onineko (demon/devil cat in Japanese). Not really a fancy project, but a fun little one to keep the creative juices flowing. *Yes, we’re pretty proud of our pink Batman tabard.

The initial inspiration for this was reading about Assassin’s Creed and the developers describing that in certain historical context there is the potential to have a female assassin star in the game, which I would be incredibly excited for personally! It hasn’t happened yet and I can’t say I’m confident it will be any time soon, but in either case I wanted to draw a lady assassin-type character. This was just a scribbly drawing I churned out on a bus ride and added some color today with photoshop.
